India made history by clinching the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title, defeating South Africa in a thrilling final by seven runs. This victory marked India’s first T20 World Cup win since 2007, ending a 17-year wait.

Opting to Bat first India set a formidable total of 176-7, with Virat Kohli anchoring the innings with a stellar 76 runs. In the death overs, India’s bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, delivered under pressure, restricting South Africa to 169-8. And a pivotal moment was Suryakumar Yadav’s extraordinary catch at the boundary, which has been hailed as “the greatest catch ever” and was instrumental in shifting the momentum in India’s favor.

India became the first team to win the ICC T20 World Cup undefeated, showcasing consistent performances throughout the tournament. This triumph was particularly special for captain Rohit Sharma, who had been part of India’s previous T20 World Cup win in 2007. Leading the team to victory in 2024, Sharma announced his retirement from T20 internationals post-match, marking a poignant end to his T20I career.

This historic win not only ended India’s long wait for a World Cup title but also reinforced their dominance in international cricket. The team’s all-round performance, combined with strategic leadership and moments of brilliance on the field, culminated in a memorable tournament for Indian cricket fans worldwide.
