Over the weekend, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Emirates Cricket Board have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and hosting agreement to boost cricketing ties between the two countries, which could make UAE a second option for India’s cash-rich tournament if the situation doesn’t improve in India.
The agreement was signed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah and vice-chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board Khalid Al Zarooni. I along with Vice Chairman of Emirates Cricket Board Khalid Al Zarooni signed an MoU & hosting “agreement between BCCI and Emirates Cricket to boost the cricketing ties between our countries,” BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in a tweet. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Treasurer Arun Dhumal were present on the occasion, he added.

England home series for which having it in India is still the first option. “However, if the COVID caseload during January remains same, I guess it’s only fair that BCCI keeps an option B ready which could be UAE,” a senior BCCI told a news portal.
The 2020 season of the IPL will be played for 53 days from September 19 to November 10 across three venues in the UAE — Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai. The final match will be played on a Tuesday, to make it the first-ever IPL to have its final on a weekday. Runners-up Chennai Super Kings kicks-off the tournament with a win against Mumbai Indians.
