12BET India news IPL All-Stars match moved from pre-season to post tournament

The IPL All-Star game to debut on IPL 2020 was earlier scheduled to be played three days before the actual season. However, due to lack of time to prepare and the availability of players, the exhibition game will now be played after the tournament, according to reports. Squad selection for the two teams will be based on the performance during the season.
“It will be after the tournament,” IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel told a media outlet. “We will see the performance of the players and on that basis, the two teams will be selected”.
This confirmation was revealed after the board meeting attended by Board of Control for Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah and treasurer Arun Dhumal. In the meeting, these officials initially agreed on setting the exhibition game on May 25, the day after the final of IPL 2020. There are no official date and venue mentioned.
Earlier, Sourav Ganguly, had said that the inaugural All-star match is set to launch three days before the opening of the 13th edition of the annual series. Following the announcement, franchise owners reportedly unhappy with the scheduling of the game concerning the players’ tight schedule, injury scare and a possibility to “miss out on team bonding exercises and travel that much more”.
The game will be a one-off fixture, organized for a charitable cause featuring players from all the eight franchises. Four franchises in the North-East India with players from Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, while the other four are from the South-West zone franchises include Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
It was previously decided that the proceeds from the match will likely be donated in charity. The start of the new season was earlier announced to be on March 29 to be played in Mumbai, the home ground of the defending champions Mumbai Indians. IPL 2020 will end on May 24. The official date and venue of the All-Star game remain a discussion.
