The fifth Esports Awards gala event has been announced and one of the possible recipients of the prestigious award is an Indian professional Esport athlete and PUBG streamer Naman ‘Mortal’ Mathur, the first in history of Indian Esports. Mortal, who is also the owner of Soul Esports, plays the role of an IGL for his team. Esports Awards are held every year from the last five years.

Esports Awards is the ceremony that honours talents from all around the world into various categories for their successful run in Esports. Their aim is to “ensure that success and achievement in esports is celebrated globally, acting as an impartial entity across all platforms and titles”. Some other recipients of the awards were big names like Nadeshot, Bugha, Dr. Disrespect and many others.

Mortal, one of the biggest PUBG Mobile streamer and competitive player in India has been selected for this year’s Esports Awards in “streamer of the year” category. “Streamer of the Year” category award was awarded to world-class streamers like Ninja, Dr. Disrespect and IMAQTPIE in last few years.  He will be the first Indian to ever be considered into Esports Awards.

PUBG has become a huge phenomenon in India since it was launched in June 2019. Anyone can nominate any individual, team or organisation for any of the awards. The nominations are considered by a panel and a shortlist of finalists announced. These are then put out to public vote based on the performance of the nominated person, group or organisation. This is then followed by a panel vote, which then decides who the award winners are.
