12BET Predictions: Australia Vs England 5th Test Match

Australia will lock horns against England to play the fifth Test match at Hobart on 14th January, hoping once again to play some great cricket. Australia have won the first three test matches of the ongoing Ashes series. However, England have drawn the fourth test match against Australia. So, Australia’s dream of whitewashing England has been shattered and now the Australians will be eyeing to finish the series on a high note. On the other hand, England will be trying to win at least one match in this series.

Australia:

Australia have won the first three Test matches of the series with ease and they have outclassed England in all three departments, portraying some brilliant live cricket. Usman Khawaja has scored two centuries in two innings of the fourth test match. He has been phenomenal for the Aussies in both innings. He has come into the side in place of Travis Head who has been tested positive for COVID.

However, Travis Head is now fit to take part in the fifth test match. So, it will be an interesting decision for the Australian team management as it is almost impossible to drop Usman Khawaja at this moment after his herculean efforts in the previous match. Jhye Richardson is still not fit to take part in the fifth test match. Neser might take the place of Scott Boland in the fifth test match of the series. Australia have shown their class in the previous four matches. Now, they will be eyeing to complete the demolition in this test match under the leadership of Pat Cummins.

England:

England have finally managed to save the fourth test match as Australia have not been able to break their last wicket partnership of Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson. Jos Butler will miss the fifth test match because of his injury problem. Jonny Bairstow will take his place in the starting XI of England in this fifth test match. On the other hand, Ben Stokes is also not 100 percent fit at this moment. So, he might not be able to take part in this match. Rory Burns might make a comeback in the side in place of Haseeb Hameed.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

Australia and England have faced each other in 354 Test matches. Australia have won 149 matches while England have been victorious on 110 occasions. Remaining 95 matches ended with a draw.

PREDICTIONS:

Australia are favourites to win this test match at Hobart based on their current form. The Australians have excelled in all departments and they will like to finish this historical Ashes win with a victory in the last test match. However, the English Test side has also got the mental boost up with the fighting draw in the previous test match. So, it will certainly be an exciting contest at Hobart with Australians having the edge.
