Chennai Super Kings will be playing for pride, whereas the Capitals will be playing for a place in the playoffs as these two sides face each other with contrasting fortunes in the IPL. While Delhi has had a middling tournament so far, Chennai has been borderline pedestrian this season. The champions of the IPL 2021 tournament just couldn’t find their flare this season.
While Chennai will look to finish the season on a high, Delhi will hope that the convincing nature of their win in the last game will help them to set the tone for the rest of the season. This should be a great game of live cricket for the fans.
Chennai Super Kings
The Super kings started the Dhoni era with a rather comfortable victory but went an all too familiar path in the next game, losing to the Royal Challengers and getting knocked out of the playoff contention. Barring Conway, the rest of the team couldn’t really get to grips with the surface and the RCB spinners, with no one able to free their arms and getting themselves shackled, thus making this a job too big for MS Dhoni. With nothing to lose now, Chennai can go about spoiling other’s party and play a rather fearless brand of cricket.
The Capitals are still hanging on by the skin of their teeth, after dispatching the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The batting clicked, the bowling ensured that the asking rate was always under control by taking regular wickets, and this was as perfect as they could get in terms of performing as a complete unit. With David Warner, and Rovaman Powell finding form at just the right time, this side can be a danger to anyone they face currently at the moment. All they need to do is to keep this momentum going and they should be in a good place.
Out of 26 encounters so far, Chennai Super Kings have won 16 while Delhi Capitals have won 10.
Delhi will be fancied to be the favourites in this game, although you cannot take the Super Kings lightly, this has all the makings of a Delhi win.
