Contrary to reports that the match between the two teams was in limbo due to a COVID scare in the Delhi camp, the match between the Capitals and the Punjab Kings will take place in Mumbai. The Delhi Capitals will desperately be hoping to make a fist out of this game after having another poor performance that saw them slump to defeat against the Royal Challengers and has seen them plummet to 8th place on the points table. Betting in India should favour the team from the capital.
Punjab, on the other hand, will be eagerly wanting to shed this tag of inconsistency after suffering defeat at the hands of the Sunrisers, and what better way to get back to winning ways than getting a victory over the undermanned Capitals. It’s all set for a thrilling encounter between the two, as both teams are solid with the cricket bat.
The Capitals just don’t seem to be able to catch a break. Poor performances, key players out of form, and now to make things worse, a COVID scare that had this game in doubt. But now the biggest focus will be to get something out of this game, because there is already a gap between the contenders and the chasing pack, and it seems like the capitals are drifting further and further away. While they do have the personnel to cause damage to any opposition on their day, their inability to fire at the big moments is a crucial factor for their low position on the table.
The Kings seem to be a team that is two extremes. They play some of the flamboyant and most destructive cricket in the IPL, yet they are the same team that is more than capable of botching their own good work and shooting themselves in the foot, and losing games from the grasp of victory. That doesn’t take away from the fact that they are a very formidable side when in full flow. The Kings will be hoping to be in full flow and play the flamboyant cricket that they are so well-known for.
The Punjab Kings narrowly edge this contest, winning 15 of the 28 meetings between the two sides, with the Capitals winning the remaining 13.
With the Capitals in all sorts of trouble and the scare of the virus in the camo, they will be undermanned, making Punjab the clear favorite in this encounter.
