A rejuvenated Punjab take on a suddenly edgy Rajasthan Royals, and this could be one of the games that could decide how the rest of the season could pan out for both teams. With Punjab finding form at the right time and Royals losing form at just the wrong time, it could make for a very fascinating game. That is especially considering that both teams are still in contention for a place in the playoffs after failing to do so in IPL 2021.
Will Punjab be able to win two games in a row for the first time, or will the Royals bounce back in style? This should be a great IPL match to watch for sure!!
There is no doubt that inconsistency still has to be the middle name of this Punjab side. They have never been able to put a sustainable run of results, instead, faltering in many games that were well and truly in their reach for the majority of that contest.
However, they showed what they are capable of in their last game against the Titans, putting the shackles on their batting, and then getting n the job b done without any fuss with the bat. They have now found momentum and form at the right time, and this could be that time where they put the pedal on and accelerate ahead of the other teams.
The Royals have begun to slip up at just the wrong moment. After displaying some tremendous form at the start, they have now lost two successive games against the teams who are in the bottom half of the table. And it was the familiar overdependence on Jos Buttler that has proved to be their undoing for the second straight game.
They left out an all-rounder for a batsman. In the process, the team was left wanting more in both departments. They have been in similar situations in the past as well. This was after looking extremely promising, have just fallen by the wayside. Samson would really need to think about how he uses his spinners. Leaving Chahal’s overs for the 18th over might sound aggressive, but most times, it is only going to backfire. They will have to up their game quickly, or else it could spoil a potentially great season for them.
These teams have met a total of 23 times so far in IPL. Out of these meetings, 13 have been won by Rajasthan Royals, and the rest 10 by Punjab Kings including a super over victory.
This could be a very close game to call a favourite in this game, with both teams stuttering a bit. But Rajasthan will be slight favourites due to their position on the points table.
