A rampant Rajasthan Royals will take on the mortally wounded royal Challengers In a fixture that sees two teams on opposite sides of the form spectrum. While one team is on a roll, the other has just come up on the back of an absolutely shambolic performance which makes you wonder what the hell went wrong over there. RCB played some really poor cricket in the last game.
With the sides approaching this fixture in contrasting forms, one would expect a great cricket match from the inaugural champions of the IPL. Rajasthan will also be eager to get one back over the Royal Challengers after suffering defeat at their hands early on in the season. Will the Challengers be able to lift themselves out from this malaise, or will the Royals juggernaut keep prancing?
Royal Challengers Bangalore
The Royals Challen gets managed to put one of the worst performances this season in their dismal loss against the Sunrisrers. Everything that had to go wrong, went wrong in the most disastrous ways possible, culminating in them getting dismissed for the lowest score in this year’s IPL. The over-reliance on certain batters proved to be their undoing as none of the batsmen were able to get a foot in, and had no answers for the opposition bowling.
This has resulted in a massive beating in terms of morale, and more importantly their NRR, which was healthy until this catastrophe. The Challengers now have the ignominious task of stopping arguably one of the best batting units, and arguably the best batsman of this year’s IPL. So much for a bounce-back job.
If you had to choose one word to describe the season of the Royals, it has to be sublime. They have been one of the best teams from the very start of the tournament and their performances in each and every match have only gone on to strengthen that claim even further. Jos Buttler has been a sensation, in the midst of a run of form that mortals can only dream about. He is in a league of his own, gaming a mockery of anyone who stands in his way.
The bowling led by Chahal has been brilliant in winning games from tricky situations. They have been playing as a unit and have been successful because of it. They are in wonderful form and will relish the chance of getting their hands on a vulnerable opposition.
The Challengers hold the edge over the Royals in the overall head-to-head, winning 13 of the 26 matches played between the two sides. In this season as well, The Challenger beat the Royals in a tense encounter courtesy of a Dinesh Karthik onslaught towards the end.
The Royals are on a roll, whereas the Challengers have been massively pegged back after that hurtful loss. It will be a huge ask to get themselves up out of it from a psychological standpoint. Expect the Royals to be overwhelming favorites for this fixture.
