Australian Open: The Williams Sisters Meet on the Grand Slam Finals
12BET (Sports News) An exciting match against Serena and Venus is about to be witness in the finals of Australian Open on Saturday. This will be the ninth time that the American siblings will go against each other after surviving the semis.
Venus will try to climb a better position in the world ranking as she tries to outshine her sister. The 36-years old get to thrashed fellow American contender Coco Vandeweghe as she owns the sets on the rally with a score of 6-7, 6-2, 6-3.
The world’s number two on the other hand will try to bag away the title this year and will surely show no mercy as she met her older sister. Serena surely had an easy way on the semis after winning the two sets against Croat, Mirjana Lucic-Baron 6-2, 6-1. She is attempting to win her 23rd Grand Slam single title in an Open-era this season.
Both are hungry for a win, winning this will be her seventh record on the Australian Open for the younger Williams, while Venus hopes to win her eight major title since the 2008 Wimbledon.
This rivalry will surely put Melbourne on fire as Venus tries to redeem herself back after Serena won the title with all the sets in favored of her at Wimbledon 2009.
Venus is happy with the fact that she will meet her sister on the opposite side. Serena is also happy and is really proud of her sister for making it in the finals. Both of the Williams sister said that it’s a dream come true to face each other in such a prestigious event.
As what they said blood is thicker than water, whoever won the title is a Williams by blood.
