Australian Star Picks Potential Future Indian Captain; Ahead Of Tour Down-Under

The latest edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) has just concluded and team India prepares for the tour of Australia. There have been a lot of special talents in the latest edition of the tournament. These talented stars set the grounds on fire in the UAE. The fans were really impressed by how they left their mark and Social Media couldn’t stop talking about it.
One more star who impressed (despite being already known now and capped), with his all-round performance was Delhi Capitals’ skipper Shreyas Iyer. Though the Indian batsman did struggle with his form to an extent, his leadership skills drew a lot of positive attention.
Right from the time, he picked his own set of players in the auction, to lead them on the pitch, it was all good for Iyer and co. The Delhi Capitals had a more-or-less successful tournament, though they eventually lost the final to the Mumbai Indians.
It was a one-sided final, though both teams had impressed right through the campaign. It is never easy to play after such a long and enforced break. However, the teams from Delhi and Mumbai still looked at another level. They were the two sides to find their rhythm and eventually make it till the very end.
Without a doubt, it can be said that the team from the capital did really well for themselves. They made everyone proud and the fans would have been delighted with their showing. Keeping that in mind, they reached their first IPL final under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, which was an achievement in itself.
With India set to tour Australia now, one of his team-mates has come out and praised Shreyas Iyer. The player is none other than wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey. The Aussie star was part of the Delhi Capitals’ squad.
What Alex Carey said in detail about his former team-mate turned rival?
Though he did not play much, due to the presence of Rishabh Pant, he had good things to say about his skipper. When asked about his captain and rival recently, he said, “No doubt he has got the potential to lead India one day. I think Shreyas is going to be a fantastic leader moving forward.”
When asked about the recent success and about Shreyas Iyer’s abilities as a captain, Carey added, “His ability to connect with all the players in the group was fantastic. He took the focus off himself and worried more about the group. He has been really successful for the last couple of seasons for Delhi.”
Lastly, the star was asked about the coaching staff and Ricky Ponting. Also, about the work they had done together. He went on to conclude by saying, “He is still young and learning his crafts. He is a fantastic batsman and a great person as well. To connect with every player in a big squad like Delhi is quite a tiring task but he was excellent in managing that. His positive attitude towards the game and his partnership with Ricky really worked well for us. The future is very bright for him.”
IPL 2020 and the future looks bright?
The IPL 2020 tournament showcased some brilliant cricket and the fans really loved the amazing performances of their favourite teams and stars. However, that is in the past now.
The Indian cricket team is ready to focus on the series with Australia. They will want to make an impact away from home. A series win would be impressive. However, it will surely not be easy.
On the other hand, there will be the upcoming season of the IPL in mind too. The auction of the same will be held soon and a good campaign could really set the tone for some of these stars. Even the BCCI is aware of the same and will want its young talents to produce some excellent performances.
Overall, the future looks bright for the young Indian stars, who will be hoping to make an impression in the upcoming season of the IPL. The T20 World Cup will also be held next year. So, it only makes sense to perform now and impress, when things really matter. Let’s wait and watch, what Shreyas Iyer and co. can do.
