BCB grants Al Hasan's request to have a break from international cricket

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that they have granted the request of all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to be rested from all forms of international cricket till April 30. Earlier, Al Hasan made a petition seeking the leave, with the BCB criticizing such move before agreeing in terms and granting his request. ”He called me and said that I am not physically and mentally fit to play and want to skip the South Africa series and we have decided to give him rest till April 30,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters. The BCB announcement also includes Al Hasan’s absence in the Dhaka Premier League, country’s traditional Dhaka-club based 50-over tournament, for Mohammedan Sporting Club.

Jalal also revealed that Al Hasan will sit with the BCB president after coming back from Dubai to discuss his future to the board president. “He will come tomorrow, talk with the BCB president and tell him about his plan,” he said. The board is looking to settle down the Shakib issue as soon as possible for good considering his availability has become a major concern.

Earlier, BCB president Nazmul Hasan slammed Al Hasan’s move to temporary quit from playing. “I think it is logical to think that if he was in a poor physical and mental state, he wouldn’t have given his name in the IPL auction. But he went ahead with it. So, does it mean that if he got his IPL contract, he would have said the same thing? We can’t do anything if he doesn’t want to play for Banglades.”
