BCCI started preparations for 2023 ODI World Cup

India is set to host the 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started its preparations for the mega event that will take place in October-November. Reports claim that the Indian cricket governing body is now seeking for the office-bearers to form the Local Organising Committee for the next year’s tournament. In its latest meeting, the APEX council have already approved the office-bearers to form the LOC. “The office-bearers have been authorised to form the LOC,” a member of the BCCI told Cricbuzz. The formation of the LOC is expected to be completed by the end of this month. Dhiraj Malhotra would have been an obvious option as the tournament director for the UAE World Cup last year
It is learnt that that India’s Sharad Powar headed ICC during the 2011 World Cup, which also took place in India. India won the 2011 ICC World Cup with Pawar at the helm in ICC. This will be the first time the 14-team competition is held completely in India and they reportedy making similar plans for the 2023 World Cup. The World Cups are held in India, England and Australia/New Zealand by rotation.
