Clive Lloyd Makes A Massive Statement on Virat Kohli’s Captaincy

Virat Kohli’s tenure as India’s T20I captain came to an end after the Men In Blue failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-finals. Despite the fact that Kohli’s leadership is still without an ICC Trophy, he leaves the position with some outstanding statistics. In the similar vein, great West Indies captain Sir Clive Lloyd has weighed in to assess Kohli’s T20I leadership and the way Team India played live cricket under him.

Lloyd remarked that, although Kohli’s team did not win an ICC trophy, he provided excellent contributions to Indian cricket. He was good with the cricket bat and the team flourished under his leadership. People have been talking a lot about his batting lately, and he is certain that fans will see the best of Kohli in the future, according to the former West Indian captain.

“The point is that he has done a lot for India throughout the years. He may not have won a World Cup, but it doesn’t make him a terrible leader. He has been an outstanding servant to the Indian team and will continue to do so for many years to come. People have been talking about his batting, and I am certain that we will see the best of Kohli with the bat,” remarked Sir Clive Lloyd to News Nine.

India continues to be one of the finest sides on the T20 circuit: Clive Lloyd said in a recent interview

The West Indies’ World Cup-winning captain remarked that although India may not have been able to offer their best in the T20 WC 2021, they will still be one of the top teams in the world in the same scenario. They play a challenging kind of cricket, and Lloyd is certain that India will bounce back in style in the next World T20, which will be held in Australia.

“Well, they did not perform well in the first two games against Pakistan and New Zealand. Nonetheless, they remain one of the finest T20 teams in the world. They have performed well in ODIs, T20Is, and Test cricket. They play hard. I am certain that they will make a strong recovery in the next edition.”

Virat Kohli resorted to social media to express gratitude to his supporters for their support. Virat Kohli’s last game as India’s T20I captain came against Namibia. India finished their T20 World Cup campaign on a strong note.

Following India’s elimination from the 2020 T20 World Cup, skipper Virat Kohli turned to social media to thank supporters for their support while also admitting that the team is “disappointed” with their recent performances. India trounced Namibia in their last Super 12 match in Dubai on Monday, but they were unable to advance to the semi-finals due to New Zealand’s victory against Afghanistan on Sunday.

What did Virat Kohli say on Social Media after India’s exit from the T20 World Cup 2021?

The 33-year-old posted on Social Media while posting photographs from the competition, “We set out to accomplish our aim as a group. Unfortunately, we came up short. No one is more upset than we are as a team.”

He went on to thank everyone for their help, saying, “All of your help has been tremendous, and we are thankful for it all. We want to return stronger and to put our best foot forward. Jay Hind! “..

The win against Namibia was also Kohli’s last game as India’s T20I captain. He will continue to be the skipper of the side in ODIs and Tests. However, it would have been so disappointing for him to leave on a low note for the team.

Team India was expected to be one of the favourites to win the tournament. However, they couldn’t even qualify for the semis, in a group that they were expected to top. With that being said, there is a need for change within the squad.

Already Virat Kohli will be stepping down as skipper. Rohit Sharma has taken over for the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand as the skipper. So, that is a major change. Let’s wait and watch what changes are implemented for the long run. Only time will tell if the Indian cricket team can go back to the top of the mountain!!
