CPL T20 Match Preview: Barbados Tridents vs Guyana Amazon Warriors

We are into the last week of the league stage in the new edition of the Caribbean Premier League CPL2020 and teams who are lagging need to pull up their socks. Every matchup from hereon will be mouthwatering and full of intent as players will try to prove their point and inspire their side to the semifinals. Guyana Amazon Warriors may well be in the semifinals mix but the point table prove that the competition is very close and one slip up will put them back in trouble. Meanwhile, the Tridents have to fight their way up as they are currently struggling with their form.
Barbados Tridents
The Tridents are currently in shambolic form, nothing has been going right for them as they recently lost to the Warriors by seven wickets. They will play the same opponents in two days’ time and another bad performance will put curtains to their semifinal hopes this season.
Captain Jason Holder won the toss and elected to bat first against the Warriors in their last game and could only manage to muster a total of 92 as Pakistani pacer Naveen ul Haq ran through the batting order with four scalps. The Warriors had a very comfortable chase as Brandon King scored a fifty and Pooran scored the winning runs within 16.4 overs. It was a very poor day at the office for the whole team and if they do not pull up their game they will lose again.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
The Warriors received a morale booster after defeating the Tridents but before the rematch, Chris Green’s men will have to face the St Lucia Zouks. The players are in a good rhythm and it will be an exciting matchup for the fans. Captain Green had a great outing with the ball against the Tridents and will look to lead from the front while players like Brandon King, Nicholas Pooran will shoulder the responsibility of scoring the runs.
The Warriors look in good stead for the semifinals and if they can manage to defeat the Zouks in their next match, they may well beat the Tridents again considering the contrasting form and confidence in both the camps.
