CPL T20 Match Preview: Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Barbados Tridents

It is now or never at the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 (CPL T20) as teams are looking to put their best foot forward in the upcoming matches. Therefore both the sides, the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Barbados Tridents are looking to get a move on before it’s too late.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

The Warriors are coming on the back of a solid run chase victory over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Rayad Emrit’s men posted a handsome total of 150 with Joshua Da Silva scoring a fifty. During the chase, the Warriors lost early wickets putting them under a lot of pressure but a blazing knock from Nicholas Pooran simply took the game away from the Patriots as he scored a century from 45 deliveries by the virtue of hitting 10 sixes at the mammoth strike rate of 222.22.

Despite the win, the Warriors have to be more clinical with their bowling as everyday Pooran won’t bail them out.

Barbados Tridents

The Tridents are coming to this game after a shocking defeat against the St Lucia Zouks where they failed to chase down a paltry total of 92. The Zouks batted first and lost wickets at regular intervals courtesy of an excellent bowling performance from Hayden Walsh Jr. who picked up three wickets and was well supported by Jason Holder and Rashid Khan.

Just when they thought that they had the match in the bag after the splendid bowling performance, their batting fell flat on their faces. Apart from the opening partnership between Johnson Charles and Sahi Hope the others looked clueless against a disciplined bowling attack by the Zouks as they were strangled and could only manage 89/7 at the end of 20 overs.

The Tridents have no option but to pick themselves after such a shameful loss and produce a better performance against the Warriors.

Head to head

Both sides have played each other 15 times in total over the past editions of the CPL. However, the Warriors enjoy an overwhelming lead over the Tridents having beaten their opponents 10 times in those 15 face-offs.

This will be their first clash this season and therefore the Tridents will be desperate to settle the scores.
