CPL T20 Match Preview: Trinbago Knight Riders vs St Lucia Zouks

The Caribbean Premier League have entered into its last quarter and it’s almost time up for the teams struggling to get going. Some are through to the semis, while others are still jostling to get a look in at the last minute. A lot of good Cricket has been played in the tournament so far. The world is watching this first major tournament post the pandemic and its adverse effects on sports.
In the upcoming matchup the undisputed league leaders Trinbago Knight Riders are up against St Lucia Zouks who are a win away from sealing their semifinal spot. It will be a very exciting clash.
Trinbago Knight Riders
It has been a dream run for Keiron Pollard and his men as they have won back to back eight games on the trot and have dominated their opposition in each case. They have produced a team effort and have not relied on the individual brilliance of some of the players. They are coming to this came with a solid win against the Patriots where Pollard rested himself and Sunil Narine and yet they won the clash.
Knight Riders batted first and Lendl Simmons put on a show for the viewers with his stunning innings of 96 runs which helped the Knight Riders put on a commendable total of 174. The Patriots were behind right from the start as Pravin Tambe, Kharry Piere and Sikandar Raza were the stars with the ball in hand as they restricted the Patriots to 117/8 in 20 overs.
St Lucia Zouks
The Zouks come to this game with contrasting form as they lost their previous encounter against the Warriors. They were put on to bat first by Chris Green and they could only manager 109 runs at the end of 20 overs. The experience batters in Rahkeem Cornwall, Andre Fletcher and Najibullah Zadran all struggled to get going and therefore resulted in the paltry total.
With the ball also they struggled as Shimron Hetmyer’s calm half-century was enough to bag the win for the Warriors within 13.5 overs. Scot Kuggeleijn and Mohammad Nabi did try their best to put the brakes but they had very less runs to defend.
Head to head
Both sides have played each other 15 times in the CPL history with the Knight Riders, as usual, dominating the tie by winning 11 times while the Zouks have only managed to win twice with two games ending with no result.
