12BET India News: Amit Mishra to miss the rest of IPL 2020 season due to injury

Among the list of players confirmed to miss the remainder if the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season is Delhi Capitals leg-spinner Amit Mishra after injuring his finger against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The 37-year-old, who last played for India in a Twenty20 match against England in February 2017, has been one of the top performers in league cricket.
“(Mishra) sustained a flexor tendon injury to the ring finger of his bowling hand whilst attempting to take a return catch off his bowling (this Saturday),” Delhi Capitals said in a statement. “Mishra will now consult with a specialist over the next few days to determine the most appropriate course of management for this unfortunate injury.”
Mishra was the third-highest wicket-taker for the Capitals in the IPL and had featured in their last three matches. He had taken just three wickets but at an economy rate of 7.20. He is also the second highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL with 160 scalps, 10 less than Lasith Malinga (170), who has opted out due to personal reasons this year.
Our latest cricket news: Ali Khan set to miss the rest of IPL 2020 season due to injury
He picked up a flexor tendon injury to the ring finger of his bowling hand whilst attempting to take a catch of Nitish Rana in the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. He is set to travel back to India for recovery and rehabilitation. Other players, including Mishra’s Delhi teammate and Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, have also faced injury scares during this year’s IPL.
Mishra thought the injury would take a game or two to recover but was unhappy when it forced him to leave the tournament this early. “The fact that I got injured while playing – trying to catch the ball – giving my 100 percent is a bit satisfying. It is not an injury related to fitness which means I am doing fine,” Mishra told a news portal. Delhi is currently sitting at the top of the table along with Mumbai.
Earlier, USA pacer and Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Ali Khan, who is the first player from the USA to feature in the tournament, was also ruled out of the tournament after acquiring an injury. KKR is currently at the fourth position in the IPL standings with four points from four matches. Khan had replaced Harry Gurney last month after being ruled out following a shoulder injury.
