CPL T20 Match Preview: Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

We are into the last week of the league stage in the new edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and teams who are lagging need to pull up their socks. Every matchup from hereon will be mouthwatering and full of intent as players will try to prove their point and inspire their side to the semifinals. Jamaica Tallawahs who are barely in a semifinal spot have to maintain some consistency when they go up against the wooden spooners, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Jamaica Tallawahs

The Tallawahs are fresh coming to this game after suffering a disappointing defeat against the Knight Riders and will hope to get back in winning against the Patriots. In the previous match captain Rovan Powell won the toss and elected to field but it came back to haunt them as the Knight Riders posted a handsome total of 184. While chasing down the big target the Tallawahs were in the game when Glenn Philipps was at the crease but as soon the Kiwi departed, the Knights had the game in their bag. In came Andre Russell and played a brisk innings of 50 from 23 deliveries but was unable to avoid the defeat.

Bowling department did not deliver in the previous game and the likes of Fidel Edwards, Sandeep Lamichhane and Carlos Brathwaite have to step up and support their star spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

Time is running out for the Patriots who need to gather momentum by winning matches. Ahead of their game against the Tallawahs they play a very crucial game against the league leaders, Knight Riders. If Rayad Emrit’s team can win that game it will be a huge morale booster for them and will motivate them to keep going against the Tallawahs on the next day.

The seniors players like Evin Lewis, Ben Dunk and Denesh Ramdin have to support the likes of Joshua Da Silva, who scored a blazing half century to post a respectable total of 150 on the board against the Warriors in their last match. However the bowlers also failed to step up and the Patriots struggled to pick up wickets. A lot more is expected from foreign stars like Sohail Tanvir and Ish Sodhi as they both failed to pick up a single wicket. It will be a difficult road from here for the patriots but it is now or never.

Head to head

The head to head statistics are tied and it proves that it will be a close encounter. Both sides have played each other 12 times and both of them have won 6 games each with the Tallawahs winning the recent matchup this season.
