IPL 2020 Match- 4 Preview: Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings

IPL 2020 Match- 4 Preview Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League started with a bang as Chennai Super Kings defeated reigning champions Mumbai Indians in the curtain-raiser. It was an intense game until the last few overs when the game was already in CSK’s bag. However, now, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his men will look forward to their next game against the Rajasthan Royals. This will be the first match for the Royals this season and it will be also the first match played at Sharjah.

Sharjah has always been known for some great cricketing rivalries, mainly Indian and Pakistan. The fans will be hoping to see some great Cricket in this game too.

Rajasthan Royals

The Royals have a very unique team which on paper is heavily reliant on their foreign players to perform while the domestic players are mostly there to fill gaps. However, this can be a double-edged sword for the franchise. There is a clear inexperience among some of the Indian players but it also an opportunity for them to rub shoulders with the world’s best and rise to the occasion.

Steve Smith is a very capable leader and he will marshal his troops through the tournament. Despite that, the main problem lies in Ben Stokes availability. Stokes adds a different dimension to this team and without him, the balance is completely off.

Hopefully, they will put up a good show and try and start with a bang against CSK.

Expected Lineup: Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Steve Smith, Robin Uthappa, Riyan Parag, Tom Curran, Shreyas Gopal, Jofra Archer, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande.

Chennai Super Kings

After a winning start against Mumbai Indian in the curtain-raiser, Dhoni’s men will be high on confidence. However, if they have to win the tournament this year, they have to iron out their mistakes. The lineup will remain the same if conditions do not change drastically. Sam Curran who came in for Dwayne Bravo had a great all-round game as the Englishman contributed with the ball and also with the bat.

South African pacer Lungi Ngidi who was expensive at the start made a solid comeback at the death and restricted Mumbai under 170 by picking up wickets at regular intervals.

So it looks like a very well balanced side and it will be interesting to see how they fare against the Royals.

Expected Lineup: Murali Vijay, Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Lungi Ngidi.
