Mahela Jayawardene Congratulates Sri Lanka After They Clinch The Asia Cup 2022 Title

Mahela Jayawardene, a former captain of Sri Lanka, showered appreciation on the youthful squad that did the nation proud by winning the Asia Cup 2022 and beating Pakistan in the final match. After suffering a devastating defeat at the hands of Afghanistan in the group stage of the competition, Sri Lanka did not look back as they won all of their remaining games to take first place in the competition.
In the championship match, the top order for Sri Lanka was unable to perform, and the squad was put in a difficult position after losing five wickets in the first few overs. However, it was the batting performances of Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga that turned the tide of the game. Meanwhile, Pramod Madushan extended his outstanding start to his career with Sri Lanka by taking four wickets with the ball.
Hasaranga was awarded the Player of the Tournament title for his all-round performance during the competition, and he took three wickets in a single over to win the match that decided the winner of the tournament. The island country was able to reverse all of the odds that were stacked against them, and their outstanding overall performance throughout the competition ensured that they were awarded the championship trophy.
Jayawardene has now given praise to the Sri Lankan team for their effort and said that it was a nice toss to lose in the end. This is in reference to the fact that Shanaka had been winning the majority of the tosses in the competition up until the final.
