England vs Australia 2nd ODI: Match Preview, Match Details, Team News, Prediction & Expected Lineups

A One Day International series which is supposed to be nerve-wracking have not disappointed till now. With the Aussies beating the hosts in the 1st ODI, it adds a new dimension to the series. Some good Cricket puts the men from Down Under in great position to win the whole thing. The Aussies batted first and posted a daunting total of 294 as Glen Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh got going in the middle. In reply, England lost some early wickets and then Sam Billings and Jonny Bairstow tried stitching a partnership.

Bairstow got out in the 36th over putting all the pressure on the all-rounders and Billings. However, Billings stood like a lone warrior and scored a great century. It was not enough as Josh Hazlewood bowled a tight spell giving away only 26 runs in his 10 overs and picking three crucial wickets. Adam Zampa also picked up four wickets and kept strangled England throughout the chase.

England

The Three Lions lost by 19 runs but still, they have a lot of positives to take from the first ODI. Billings stepped up when needed, Bairstow as usual performing at the big stage. They just need their bowling to come good and restrict the Aussies at a par total. They gave away too many runs which made the task very daunting.

Also, their top-order batsmen needs to find their form, it is time for Joe Root, Jason Roy and allrounder Moeen Ali to step up to the occasion.

Expected Lineup: Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Eoin Morgan (c), Joe Root, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler (wk), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood and Jofra Archer.

Australia

A brilliant start to the series, as they came up with a comprehensive win over the hosts. However there are aspects which they have to improve, the opening pair of Aaron Finch and David Warner have to work together. They may miss the reliable Steve Smith due to concussion so the veterans have to step up to the cause.

The Aussies have a perfectly balanced bowling attack but Mitchell Starc picking up a few wickets would do his confidence a world of good. Aaron Finch and his men will be hoping that Smith passes his concussion test and comes back to the 2nd ODI but if failing to do so they may add depth to their batting by picking Matthew Wade.

Expected Lineup: Aaron Finch, David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, Alex Carey, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Mitchell Marsh.
