English Premier League: Week 3 – Betting Preview

English Premier League is entering its third week, featuring a marquee match, some easy fixtures for the big boys and a couple of potentially giant killing ones. All the online betting eyes will be focusing on the marquee match of the week: Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool. But the bettors will do well to pay more attention to the odds of the potential giant-killing matches. Watford could turn out to be a real banana skin for Arsenal, while Manchester United face a tricky fixture at Hull City. Here are the details you must know about all these matches and a few others.
Tottenham vs Liverpool
Their playing styles are different, but their overall impact could be the same. Liverpool look for counter-attacking opportunities, while Tottenham play a more possession-based game. Liverpool have a better attacking unit, while Spurs are better in defence and midfield. Liverpool, of late, have shown a curious tendency to play better against the bigger teams. They tend to struggle against teams that try to park the bus in defence and stifle the attacks with crowded interventions. The first two matches are proof of this theory: They won against Arsenal, but lost to Burnley. As for player availability, Philippe Coutinho, Emre Can and Divock Origi are in a fifty-fifty situation. If all three miss out, it could affect Liverpool’s chances.
Tottenham does not have the strikers to produce a cloudburst of goals. But they tend to control the game. Tottenham drew against Everton in the first match and defeated Crystal Palace in the second. They are on the right path of progress. You can expect another solid performance from Mauricio Pochettino’s boys. They will be boosted by the return of Dele Alli from injury. But skipper Hugo Lloris is still out with a hamstring injury. So Michael Vorm will be at the goal.
Who will win? Tottenham has won only one match of the last 10 meetings with Liverpool. In the last season, both the matches between the two were draws. Another draw here is highly likely. Bet on 12 bet with odds of 2.4 for a Tottenham win, 3.45 for a draw and 2.9 for a Liverpool win.
Other matches
Arsenal, who are still searching for their first win, face a hugely impressive Watford. Watford led against Chelsea till late in the second half in their previous game, before losing the match. If Arsenal did not produce their A game, they will be trouble. For online betting, the odds of a Watford win @ 5.6 with 12 bet are tempting.
Manchester United meet one of the three other teams that have won both their previous matches. Hull City (Chelsea and Manchester City are the others with the all-win record at this stage) defeated Leicester City in the opening match of the season and followed it with a convincing win against Swansea. They are up against the mighty Man U this week. The match will be fascinating. So will be the online betting on it, with odds of 8.1 for a Hull win and 4.5 for a draw with 12 bet.
In the other major matches of the weekend, Chelsea meet Burnley and Manchester City host West Ham. Check out the odds of 12 bet of these and other games of the EPL for lucrative online betting options.
