EPL Week 9: Online Betting Preview

Competition for the top slot is heating up in the English Premier League. Manchester City no longer have the five-point lead they had last month. They are on same points with Arsenal, holding on to the top position only through goal difference. Tottenham, the only unbeaten team remaining in the fray, are just one point away. Liverpool are two points down from the top, while Chelsea need just three points to catch up with Manchester City and Arsenal. Everton and Manchester United  are not too far behind either. This is good for football as well as for online betting. As many as seven teams battling for the premier league crown. You cannot expect a more exciting prospect.

Marquee match of the week

Chelsea vs Manchester United on Sunday must be the blockbuster match of the weekend. Both the teams have had a roller-coaster season so far. United have won just one of their last five games: there are two draws and two defeats as well. Chelsea’s last five matches look slightly better, with two wins and two draws. Here is some stats to help you in online betting in this match: Manchester United have not defeated Chelsea in the last 10 matches spread over four years. They lost four and drew six. United were ultra defensive against Liverpool last week. Chelsea have the creative flair  to open up the tightest of defenses. All three results  are possible and have excellent odds in online betting. Take your pick.

Smart picks from the rest

In the other match of Sunday, Manchester City must start favourites against Southampton. However, two things could turn the tables here. City are back from a long trip to Barcelona and, well, a morale-bursting 4-0 defeat against Barca. City have clearly lost their winning momentum. Second, Southampton are in good form, having completed a four-match unbeaten streak. City have won seven of their last 10 meetings against the Saints. But the last time they played, City lost 4-2. A draw has excellent odds in online betting.

Other notable matches

Liverpool are facing a strongly defensive West Ham. Liverpool have the upper hand. But against crowded defenses like West Ham’s, Liverpool find goal-scoring difficult. A draw has attractive odds.

Watford visit Swansea. The odds of online betting favour a Swansea win. However, Swansea have won just one match so far, and lost six of the eight matches. Watford have fared  far better and are capable than what the odds suggest.
