FC Bayern Munich is expected Germany goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer in January after surgery on his fractured left foot.
Neuer, who returned to the team at the end of August, sustained the same foot injury he got in April.
The 31-year-old World Cup winner suffered the fresh injury in training last Monday as Bayern Munich prepared for Bundesliga match against Schalke 04 at Veltins-Arena, Gelsenkirchen.
“The fact that Manuel Neuer has suffered a new injury means we are all very sorry for him. The operation went perfectly, which is the most important thing for now. We are now looking to the future. Manuel will be back to his previous best and available in January.” Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said
Bayern started their Champions League campaign with a win over Anderlecht and for Neuer, he will miss their remaining games with the team when they face Paris Saint-Germaine in France before hosting Celtic FC on October 18.
The 29-year-old Sven Ulreich is likely to fill the gap as a keeper for the club and start those matches for Neuer’s absence.
