Football Association has announced that Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford will not play for England’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovakia national football team.

According to the statement that was released by Football Association, Pickford suffered an injury during Everton’s defeat against Chelsea in the Premier League.

“Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has left the England camp and returned to Everton. Having reported to St George’s Park on Sunday evening, the 23-year-old underwent an assessment on a muscle injury sustained playing for his club. After discussions between England and Everton medics, it was decided it was in the player’s best interests to return to Finch Farm for further treatment.” FA said in a statement

Meanwhile, England manager Gareth Southgate has still three available goalkeepers which are Joe Hart, Jack Butland and Tom Heaton in squad however he has not named a replacement yet.

England will face visit Malta on Saturday before hosting second-placed Slovakia on Tuesday, September 5 at Wembley Stadium.

Everton signed Pickford this summer from Sunderland for a £25 million fee that could rise to £30 million.
