Real Madrid C.F. picked up their first trophy of 2017 UEFA Super Cup Final against Manchester United F.C. at Philip II Arena, Skopje, Macedonia.
Thanks to the satisfying performances of Casemiro and Isco that helped the Spanish champion eased to a 2-1 victory over United.
Casemiro opened the scoring for the Los Blancos in the 24th minute of the match while Isco doubled the lead in the 53rd minute for the Madrid to be in total control.
Real Madrid has been European champion for the third time in four years and manager Zinedine Zidane was well pleased with the win even Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo watched most of the action on the side of the bench.
“Key to winning this game was two things we do well. We hold and control well, and we finish our chances at the right moment. The second half was not great, but the first half was spectacular. We have talented players who want to win every challenge. That’s how they want to grow as players.”
Ronaldo just returned to full training last weekend after being given an extended summer break following Portugal’s involvement in the Confederations Cup.
Meanwhile, new acquired striker Romelu Lukaku netted a goal for Manchester United in the 62 minute of the game.
Real Madrid and Manchester United are two of the most decorated clubs in European football.
