Leicester City have beaten Liverpool in the EFL Cup that ended in 2-0 victory of the Foxes. Goals from Shinji Okazaki and Islami Slimani secured their third home win as they knock down the Reds.
As they once again host Liverpool in the coming Premier League match, Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare is expecting Jamie Vardy to return in time for the clash, but Matt James remains sidelined. Vardy did not feature in the recent midweek cup despite the Foxes defensive woes.
Liverpool were the much better team in the first half of EFL Cup against Shakespeare’s men. They played well, but didn’t score. And with the defeat, it means Liverpool are left without a win for the fourth consecutive match. They’re last victory was in the game against Arsenal last month.
As they travel to King Power Stadium, Liverpool boss will have a lot to worry about. Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, and Adam Bogdan are all out due to injury; while Sadio Mané serves the final game of his three-man ban. Good thing, Philippe Coutinho is fine to play here.
Liverpool have been thumped by Leicester City in the 2-0 League Cup last Tuesday. With this, expect Jurgen Klopp’s men to aim for a win match as they seek for revenge.
