The second race of the 2018 grand prix season, Bahrain Grand Prix, gets underway tomorrow. The race, first of the three-night races in the season, is wide open, following a five-grid penalty for Lewis Hamilton. You can expect a hard-fought race because of the overtaking-friendly track and conditions in Bahrain. Check out the online betting odds right now. The circuit

The circuit at Sakhir, 30 km away from Bahrain’s capital Manama, is a mix of long straights and deceptive corners. It is widely considered as the most suitable track for overtaking.

The circuit will have hot and humid conditions, with temperature constantly remaining above 40 degrees Celsius. A special type adhesive is sprayed to prevent any sandstorm near the race track.

Bad news for Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton and his legion of his fans will be hoping that he will bounce back in the race with a win. For starters, Hamilton had to content with the second position in the season-opening Australian grand prix, following what is dubbed as ‘software error’. He was the fastest driver in view in Melbourne, but Sebastian Vettel clinched the race there.

More bad news is in store for Hamilton and his fans. He has been slapped a five-grid penalty for Bahrain grand prix following a gear box change at Bahrain. He was forced to change the gear box following leaks were detected in the gear box on the eve of the practice session.

Hamilton sounded cool about it. He said yesterday: “It’s been a normal Friday, we’ve got through all our program. … The tyres have felt the best they’ve felt here in years.”

Who will win?

It will be tough to predict a winner here, but all the clues for online betting are pointing to a win for Sebastian Vettel. Most reports from Bahrain suggest a Ferrari dominance here. Both the Ferrari drivers dished out near-perfect qualifying races.

But don’t go for just by the initial reports. The grid position is not the clinching factor here. The circuit design lends itself to plucky overtaking. That brings young guns like Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo and Valtteri Bottas into the picture. Even Hamilton can gear up for a fairy tale win on this track.

Prediction for online betting: It is going to be a closely fought race. If you are in a mood for adventurous punting, go for Verstappen.
