Harbhajan Singh In Deep Trouble; Files Police Complaint

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the CSK camp in recent times, with the IPL just round the corner. Quite a few players have backed out from the IPL 2020 tournament already. This includes some really big names, who can be crucial to the team. Quite a few members of the team management and the coaching staff, including players had tested positive for COVID in the recent weeks.
However, despite all that, the IPL 2020 schedule did not change. The first match that is scheduled to be starting on the 19th, remains the same. It is to be played between the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians.
One such player who decided to pull out of the tournament is Harbhajan Singh. The off spinner, who has retired from international cricket, was expected to play in the current edition of the IPL. He was due to fly down to the UAE as well. Despite that, the player decided to back down at the last minute. This was a huge blow of MS Dhoni and co., who had already lost Suresh Raina.
To add to that, the problems for Bhajji don’t seem to die down at all and he is once again stuck in the middle of something controversial. He is involved in something that may be really concerning for his family and fans.
It has been confirmed now that Harbhajan has been duped of Rs. 4 crores by a Chennai-based businessman. That is a huge sum and the cricketer is worried about the whole situation.
The former Mumbai Indians’ star has even gone ahead and filed a complained against the individual as well. Further reports have suggested that he had registered it with the Chennai City police, as he wants to get his money back.
The businessman was arrested and has approached the Madras High Count for anticipatory bail at present (which is still pending). This has been confirmed by the Times of India.
According to the former Indian cricketer, he had met the individual through a common friend. The individual’s name is said to be G. Mahesh. Harbhajan met him prior to 2015. The amount was loaned to him that year. However, Mahesh kept stalling and did not return Harbhajan’s messages.
A cheque of INR 25 lakhs was issued to Harbhajan last month. Apparently, it bounced and this frustrated the cricketer. Due to this, the spin bowler finally got fed up and has now filed a complaint.
The petition has been said to be forwarded to Neelankarai, the assistant commissioner of police Visveshvaraiah to probe into the complete matter. The report further adds that Mahesh has already been summoned by the ACP. This is with regards to the inquiry that they are doing.
In his affidavit, the Chennai-based businessman, Mahesh has stated that he had taken the loan from Harbhajan, after issuing an immovable property at Thalambur as security. According to him, all the dues have already been paid to the Indian star. Now, the case could on for quite some time. The fact that the pandemic is in full flow and the numbers are rising, may not help the hearings either.
It is a really sensitive matter and these things really take time. Further, the fact that Harbhajan Singh backed out of the IPL, may have hurt him even more financially. This could be a huge factor in his potential return to cricket soon.
One thing is for certain. The justice system and then team working on the case will surely get to the bottom of it. Harbhajan Singh seems to have faith in that and will be keenly awaiting for a verdict on the same.
Meanwhile, Cricket is back in full flow, with the CPL ending recently. The prime focus will now be on the upcoming edition of the IPL, with the tournament being the talk of the town as always. The teams are ready to go and so are the fans. It will be interesting to see how things plan out.
