IPL Day 6: Cricket Betting Preview

IPL Teams 2016

In the lone match of the day, Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Kings XI Punjab in Indore. Incidentally, Holkar Stadium in Indore is a designated home ground for the Punjab side. The pitch, with a decent grass cover, does offer assistance to fast bowlers. Kings XI won their first match, comfortably beating the mighty Pune Supergiant. On the other hand, Royal Challengers lost their first match, against Sunrisers, but bounced back to win their second match against Delhi Daredevils. Who will win this one? There is no clear-cut answer for this big question surrounding the cricket betting odds calculations.

Preview – Kings XI Punjab

Their bowlers did a fine job against Supergiant. Sandeep Sharma tends to take early wickets. He is well supported by the other pacers, Mohit Sharma, T Natarajan and Marcus Stoinis. Axar Patel too did a tremendous job of containing. Together they nullified a top order that included Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith and MS Dhoni. A similar effort is needed against Royal Challengers. If Sandeep Sharma can provide early wickets, perhaps that of Gayle, Kings XI will get the upper hand.

Kings XI’s batting appears surprisingly solid in the first match. Hashim Amala, Wriddhiman Saha and Axar Patel all played handy innings. But it was the late fireworks by skipper Glen Maxwell and David Miller that settled the issue. The Punjab side has the right blend of aggression and class in their batting. If they maintain consistency, the IPL betting odds will tilt in their favour.

Preview – Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers supporters will be eagerly waiting for the return of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Kohli will not feature in this match. AB is no certainty, but may play if he passes the fitness test. Without him, they need a big score from Chris Gayle and Shane Watson to turbo-charge their innings. Kedar Jhadav rescued them in the last match. A big innings is due from Gayle, who needs just 25 runs to reach the milestone of 10000 runs in T-20 cricket. He must guard against Sandeep Sharma who has this cheeky knack of picking out the opposition’s openers.

The Bangalore team’s batting does not give any confidents to a potential cricket betting enthusiast to punt on them. But their bowling does. They defended a not-so-big total last time around.  Young Australian fast bowler Billy Stanlake looked sharp and hostile. The others, like Yuzvendra Chahal , too chipped  with decent spells. If de Villiers plays, they will have the upper hand in cricket betting calculations.

Prediction

Royal Challengers have a good record against the Punjab side. However, Kings XI are well rested, and looked eager and hungry in the first match. Our money is on them.
