Five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova announced that he will return to the Orange County Breakers on July for two World Team Tennis matches.

“It’s great to play for the Breakers again. The competition in World Team Tennis is always strong so I’m excited to get back on the court.” Sharapova said

Sharapova is scheduled to play on July 16 to open up the season for the team on the road in San Diego and July 24 for the home match in Newport Beach. In addition, the 30-year-old tennis star has played on for the Breakers for seven years.

The Russian player had originally planned to return to the hard court of the Standford Classic, California at the end of July.

Sharapova already made a formal declaration that she will not be able to play in Wimbledon qualifying at Roehampton due to a thigh injury she suffered from the second round match at the Italian Open last May16.

The five-time champ recently returned to the WTA Tour after she was banned from playing for 15 months due to being positive for heart disease drug meldonium at the 2016 Australian Open in January 26, 2016 and was denied to play a wild card at French Open.

Sharapova is currently ranked 179th in the world.
