Los Angeles Lakers won first Summer League title against Blazers

The Los Angeles Lakers grabbed their first-ever 2017 Las Vegas Summer League championship at Thomas & Mack Center with a decisive 110-98 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Thanks to the 27th pick of the NBA Draft rookie forward Kyle Kuzma who dropped 30 points and 10 rebounds to help and lift the Lakers past the Blazers.

With his aggressive performance, Kuzma claimed and won the Summer League Finals MVP award after his red-hot 11-of-16 shooting in 35 minutes of action including his six threes from downtown.

The 21-year-old Kuzma was also voted to the MGM Resorts All-NBA Summer League Second Team.

Meanwhile, Lakers guard Matt Thomas had strong game as well with 23 points on a perfect 5-of-5 from the three point territory while Vander Blue added 20 points and six assists.

Summer League MVP Lonzo Ball was out in the Summer League final title game due to right calf injury.

For the Blazers, rookie big man Caleb Swanigan finished the game with 25 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists and his teammate Jake Layman added 21 points with seven rebounds.

Swanigan was named to the All-NBA Summer League First Team and the Blazers finished the tournament with a 5-3 record.
