Renato Sanches Top the 2016 European Golden Boy Award

12BET (Football News) Tuttosport have already release the awardees of the 2016 European Golden Boy award, and it is not Marcuus Rashford who top the said list but its Bayern’s midfielder Renato Sanches.
The Portuguese earned the number one spot as United’s forward settled in the second spot. The annual award is given to those players who are under the age of 21 by the Italian publication. The trophy was given out last night, and it was indeed memorable for the young footballer as he outclassed the other 39players on the list.
Sanches was indeed deserving of the said title as he was one of the contributor on the success of Portugal in Euro 2016. He just transferred from the Bundesliga giant club from Benfica last summer with an initial offer of €30m.
The former winners of the said prestigious awards were Wayne Rooney, Mario Balotelli and Paul Pogba. He was also the first Portuguese player to take home the award as Cristiano Ronaldo finished it as a runner-up behind Rooney.
The young achiever cannot hide his happiness, saying that the award has a global significance, since he will be more popular. Other than that he said that it will be good to remain humble, since he was just starting his career and he knows for a fact that there’s always a room for improvement. He also mentioned the players that motivated him to do well in his chosen craft, Vidal, Xabi, Tiago and Kimmich.
He ended it with a strong statement saying that Bayern Munich will bag away the title on UEFA Champions League this season.
Meanwhile, Rashford wasn’t able to defend his title as he settled for the runner-up post. Kingsley Coman made it on the top three, with AC Milan’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma who made it in the top 10.
