Robin Uthappa feels that CSK will go after Raina as their first choice in the IPL mega auction

Suresh Raina

The IPL clubs were given until December 30th to name their retention choices, and at this point, all of the teams had completed their selections. When it comes to the developments at CSK, they have decided to keep Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the same positions as before. Betting in India was trying to predict who would stay and who would leave.

Teams, however, were forced to part with a large number of their key players since they were only permitted to keep four selections. In terms of CSK, they were unable to keep hold of their top batter Faf du Plessis and were even forced to part ways with veteran Suresh Raina. Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa said that Raina would be the first person CSK would pursue if he appears in the mega auction. That is despite him not having any great IPL match last term.

The club’s captain, Robin Uthappa, also revealed that Raina has been a pivotal role in the yellow camp and that the team would be eager to re-sign him despite a disastrous showing in the previous IPL. On the other side, the former cricketer said that the Dhoni-led franchise backed Ali because he offers service with both the bat and the bowl, which sadly resulted in Faf being released from his contract.

“I believe Raina is the most steadfast member of CSK that we’ve ever had. He’s been such a key factor in helping CSK qualify for so many knockout stages over the previous 10-12 years,” says Uthappa.

Suresh Raina has played an important role in the team’s success: Robin Uthappa

“He has been a critical cog in the machine, and I believe he will be the first person they pursue. Although it must have been painful to let go of Faf, I believe the main factor that influenced their decision to go with Moeen Ali was the fact that he is a two-dimensional player with both the talents, and sadly, they were forced to make that decision,” Robin Uthappa remarked on Star Sports.

The IPL 2022 super auction is expected to take place between the end of December and the beginning of January, and it remains to be seen which players Chennai Super Kings would attempt to re-enter the auction with. According to speculation, MS Dhoni’s this season in the IPL might be his final season in the league.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Released Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis, And Ambati Rayudu in IPL 2022 Retention. The Chennai Super Kings have released three key players ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions. Suresh Raina, CSK’s most consistent batsman, has not been retained. Suresh Raina, also known as Mr IPL, was not one of the four players retained by the franchise.

Raina is Chennai Super Kings’ leading run-scorer in the IPL. He has been crucial in assisting CSK in becoming one of the most successful teams in the sport. Raina’s performances have dipped in recent seasons.

There is no disputing that he is no longer the batsman he once was. It will be intriguing to see whether CSK repurchases him at auction or if he moves on to another team next year. In his remarkable IPL career, he has scored 4687 runs in 176 matches for Chennai Super Kings.

CSK have a title to defend and they will want to play things really smart

At present, the Indian Premier League holders have retained their four players. This includes Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, Ruturaj Gaikwad and skipper MS Dhoni. It is a smart call to retain a couple of all-rounders and three Indian players, which gives them the option to go big in the market for more stars.

Ofcourse, nothing less would be expected of skipper MS Dhoni, who is the mastermind behind this team and won yet another IPL title. A great captain who leads from the front, will want to defend his title in possibly one of the final seasons that he plays.

It will be interesting to see which set of Indian players the team goes for. Suresh Raina has been a loyal servant to them and the fans will surely want him back in the squad for the upcoming campaign. After all, he is their Chinna Thala and the fans of the franchise totally love him.
