Virat Kohli arrived at RCB camp ahead of IPL 2022

Virat Kohli arrived in Mumbai to join the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) squad for preparations ahead of the new edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) beginning March 26. “King Kohli has arrived! That’s it. That’s the news,” tweeted RCB’s official social media. After stepping down as India captain, Kohli will have all the energy to focus on performing for RCB that he led for the last nine seasons. Earlier, RCB had appointed former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis as their skipper for the upcoming season.

RCB is yet to win the tournament and they aim to clinch their maiden trophy this year. Last season, they managed to reach the playoffs but failed to make it to the final clash. Kohli, who was RCB’s skipper for eight seasons, also announced last season that he will not take the lead of the franchise from the 2022 season. The 33-year-old was retained by RCB ahead of the mega auction.

The IPL 2022 season begins on March 26 with last year’s finalists Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders as the curtain-raiser at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The 10-team tournament will compete in 70 matches across four venues in two Maharashtra cities, divided into two groups. CSK is the reigning champion, having won their fourth IPL title in the 2021 season.
