Zaheer Khan Has A Unique Piece Of Advice For Ravi Shastri To Give To The Indian Players

Australia and India currently locked horns against each other for a three-match ODI series. Australia won the first two matches comprehensively and hence secured the series. India came back strongly in the third and final ODI of the series in Canberra, and the series finished in favour of 2-1 for the hosts.

Former India fast bowler, Zaheer Khan has advised the Indian Head Coach Ravi Shastri to ignite the Indian team players. The Indian players need intensity and hence Zaheer Khan has come up with unique advice.

Zaheer Khan Feels That India Needs To Ignite That Spark In The Encounter, As He Told Cricbuzz Live

According to Zaheer Khan, Ravi Shastri should advise his players to try to remind Steve Smith and David Warner of the sandpaper gate. Khan feels that they can do anything to bring out the intensity of the players. Steve Smith and David Warner had to face a lot of humiliation for that ball-tampering incident against South Africa in 2008.

“Knowing the coach Ravi Shastri, he should take a leaf out of old school cricket and maybe remind Smith and Warner about what has happened a couple of years back (sandpaper gate). At times when things are not going your way, you just have to find something to bring out that intensity.”

India and Australia are fierce rivals on the field. The matches and series between the two cricketing giants have been one of the most anticipated affairs in the cricket fraternity. Both the teams have gifted us with some of the most thrilling encounters. Australian players have always engaged themselves in sledging battles. Indians are also going one step ahead in recent years, mostly under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, who likes to walk the talk.

What The Former Indian Fast-Bowler Concluded By Saying About The Whole Mentality Issue

However, the situations have changed a bit of late. The players of both teams now share some light moments on the field. This is due to the amount of cricket that they play together, especially in the Indian Premier League.

However, Zaheer Khan feels that the Indian team should do somethings to ignite the spark in the encounter as it is a long tour. It is only for their benefit that he wants there to be a slight change in the attitude.

“They have to pick that fight maybe. Not in a bad way — staying in the boundaries and bringing out that intensity at times. Forget about what is going your way, what is not, and just get in the zone, which really helps bring out the best in you. Ravi has been good at it. So, I think that is something he should definitely ponder because it is going to be a long tour. They should try everything and anything possible.”

What Next With The Border-Gavaskar Series Coming Up; Will It Be Intense?

Test cricket is always fun when two fierce rivals meet on the pitch. Virat Kohli is a manager who takes the long-format of the game quite seriously. Due to this, there should be more intensity when the two teams meet.

IPL 2021 is just round the corner as well and it will be held in India. Post that, there is also going to be the T20 World Cup this year. Both tournaments are crucial and this series could determine more, with regards to which way the alleged mega-auction goes.

If any of these young talents perform really well and make the cricket news, they could be hot picks for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League season. Zaheer Khan will also be keen on the fact that his Mumbai Indians’ side can retain their title for the third season running.

He is currently the Director of Cricket Operations for the Mumbai Indians and a think-tank amongst their ranks. The attacking pacer will be happy with the way that they are performing at present. They are totally dominating the competition, after the win in Dubai in the IPL 2020 tournament.

It will be interesting to see whether they can keep up the good form or not in the days to come. Another tournament coming up soon with the auction to take place in January 2021, as confirmed by the latest stories.
