Ajinkya Rahane out of IPL, India’s England tour

Ajinkya Rahane is set to miss Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) final game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the upcoming India’s tour to England in July after sustaining a Grade III hamstring injury. He sustained the injury during his side’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Pune. Reports claimed that he is likely to be sidelined for at least four weeks. “Usually, it takes a player at least six weeks to recover completely if he’s down with a Grade III hamstring injury. However, the necessary scanning and all will determine if the recovery could take longer and whether the cricketer concerned has to undergo surgery or not,” said a coach in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) where the senior India batsman will stay for recovery. The former India captain, who was previously dropped from India’s Test series, finished his IPL campaign with an underwhelming 133 runs from 7 games, with the highest score of 44 at a strike rate of 103. India is scheduled to play a one-off Test, 3 T20Is and as many ODIs against England. Rahane was part of the Indian squad which had taken a 2-1 lead in the Test series against England last year.
