Former England Cricketer Slams Virat Kohli Due To This Reason

Former England cricketer David Lloyd is not happy with the Indian captain Virat Kohli’s conduct on the field, as per the latest cricket news. He has bashed the Indian skipper for pressuring, disrespecting, and remonstrating with the umpires during England’s Tour Of India which consisted of the four-match Test series, followed by five T20 Internationals and now three One Day Internationals.

In a recent interview, Virat Kohli talked against the use of the on-field umpire’s soft signal. Kohli said that England put pressure during the fourth T20I on the on-field umpires to give the soft signal in their favour. Dawid Malan claimed a controversial catch to dismiss the well-set Suryakumar Yadav. That was not something good to see for the live cricket fans.

David complained that the Indian skipper is trying to pressurize the on-field umpires, not the English players. Kohli said that the England players tried to force it to the on-field umpires to give the soft out OUT when Dawid Malan attempted a low catch. The Indian skipper feels that the whole scene with the soft signal is to give the maximum authority to the on-field umpires.

What David Lloyd wrote in his column for Daily Mail?

“I do not know if England put pressure on Nitin Menon in Ahmedabad. However, I do know one thing for sure — Virat Kohli has been pressuring, disrespecting, and remonstrating with umpires throughout this tour.”

Lloyd also talked about Virat Kohli’s regarding his opinion on the umpire’s call while reviewing LBW decisions. The Indian skipper feels that the Umpire’s call is the point of a lot of confusion and it should be removed. However, Lloyd strongly criticised Kohli’s statement and said that the umpires are losing their self-respect and their value is getting undermined.

Lloyd criticises Virat Kohli’s statements on Umpire’s call

He bashed Virat Kohli for not thinking about the consequences before making such statements in public. Lloyd reminded Kohli that he is a public figure and she should be careful with his words as his statements create a big impact on the public. “Umpires are being increasingly undermined in international cricket. There are some players who seem to think that they, rather than the officials, are actually running the game.”

“Take the Indian captain for instance. Before the first ODI of the series, he went on to say that the umpire’s call should be removed from the decision review system (DRS). If the ball is shown to be hitting any part of the stumps, it should be given out. Kohli does not seem to have taken the consequences of this statement into account. If everything is out, including when the ball is just clipping the bails, then all Tests would be over in two days. An ODI would be over in four hours.

“Umpires have to be given their authority back, without a doubt. They must be handed yellow and red cards to stamp that lost authority because they look powerless. Kohli, who has vast responsibility and influence, should be very careful in what he says and does, as it impacts everyone.”

What Next For The Two Teams Post The India Versus England Series?

The world’s number one and number two T20 and ODI teams clashed for supremacy. Team India came out as the victors in this test. However, there is a major international tournament coming up at the end of the year. It will be the T20 World Cup that will be held in India once again. The hosts will really want to impress and try to win it.

One of the top competitors for the title will be The Three Lions. They will be eager to win the world-title of the shorter format of the game. The English side is already the champion of the 50-over format. Now, they will have their sights set on more gold. However, there are a lot of competitive teams for that winner’s medal.

Team India and Team England put on a great show in the T20 and ODI series that just concluded recently. Both captains would have been proud of the way that their players played. It is going to be a long year ahead and the teams will want to be at their very best. Injuries can also be a problem. Hence, it becomes crucial to take the right breaks in between tournaments and remain fit. Let’s wait and watch what happens now!!
