MS Dhoni arrives in Chennai to begin preparations for IPL 2021

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has arrived in Chennai to take part in the team’s training camp likely to begin on March 11 as part of the preparation for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Yellow Army will once again captained by Dhoni and will be joined by Suresh Raina aka Chinna Thala, who missed the 13th season due to personal reasons, as part of CSK’s IPL 2021 player list.
The former India captain and World Cup winner Dhoni along with a few other players are expected to be in attendance from Day 1 at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium. “Thalai-Vaa! Smile with the Mass(k) on! Super Night! #DenComing #WhistlePodu #Yellove,” CSK took to social media to welcome their captain for the new season while sharing a photo of Dhoni. IPL 2021 time table is yet to be released.
Chennai Super Kings had quite a productive IPL 2021 auction, acquiring the services of England all-rounder Moeen Ali, , Cheteshwar Pujara, C Hari Nishaanth, K Bhagath Verma, and M Harisankar Reddy. CSK traded batsman Robin Uthappa from Rajasthan Royals, ahead of the auction, while off-spinner and bowling all-rounder K Gowtham became the highest uncapped Indian player in the auction history.

“Yes, we are expecting all players to start coming in batches. Captain MS Dhoni will be available and attending the camp from day one. Players availability should not be an issue. We are very hopeful that the camp will successfully begin and we will strictly follow the same bio-bubble protocol and no additional measures are required to be taken at this stage,” a franchise official confirmed.
CSK had organized the same camp last season ahead of the season 13. However, a number of people in their camp tested positive for COVID-19 including players like Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The franchise, however, is keen to avoid a repeat of the same. We have put in place stringent health and safety protocols for the camp and all the participants will follow mandatory testing,’ the official added.
CSK had won back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011, before reclaiming the crown in 2018 following a two year gap. They also ended up runners-up five times. Earlier, Dhoni became the most-capped player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history and the first player to feature in 200 IPL matches after he stepped onto the field for CSK’s match against RR at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Last year, MS Dhoni-led CSK have become the first team to be eliminated from the virus-hit IPL after the Rajasthan Royals’ win over defending champions Mumbai Indians. It was the first time they could not reach the playoffs of the tournament. The three-time IPL champions had never finished below fourth place until the 13th edition and were knocked-out early for the first time in the tournament’s history.
